What Parts of the Body Does Diabetes Impact?

So as you can see, type 2 diabetes is no Altai Balance Review laughing matter and (pun intended) nothing to be taken lightly. You can do your part by learning about low glycemic index foods and how much better they are for diabetics. Eat proteins, vegetables and fruit in moderate quantities. Stay away from junk food, processed foods (that come in a box) and all "white" carb foods like potatoes, white rice, white bread. Eat whole grains. Exercise regularly even if it's as simple as a walk 4 to 5 times a week.

t's pretty obvious that smoking is bad for your health. No newsflash there. But when a diabetic smokes the effects can be much, much worse. So much so, one really has to wonder why anyone with diabetes would ever want to smoke. Of course as a non smoker, I've never had to go through the quitting process, but those with diabetes need to find a way to quit at all costs. With the advances in treatments available for quitting smoking, including patches, gum and other methods, there really is no excuse for a diabetic to continue to smoke.

So why is it such a big deal that a diabetic is at an increased risk? For several reasons:  Reduction in blood flow in arteries and a blocking of increased flow when it's needed  Increased pain in the legs in diabetics with peripheral vascular disease and in the heart with diabetics who have coronary artery disease
